Linda's French Bread machine recipe

For the best results with this French Bread machine recipe,

I highly recommend that you consider replacing your bread machine with a new convection automatic bread machine. Cuisinart has added a convection feature, which is not found in any other machine. Convection baking provides for a wonderful loaf of French Bread, and superior crust (3 settings to choose from!)

Additionally, it has special cycles for French and artesian bread recipes.

Included are FREE automatic bread machine recipes! And with it's good looks, you will want to keep it on the counter for daily use.

Linda's French Bread machine recipe

 Linda's French Bread

1 1/3 cups    water
1 tsp    salt
1 1/2 cups    bread flour
1 1/2 cups    all purpose flour
1/4 cup    cornmeal, for sprinkling on the pan
1   egg

1 Add all ingredients into the bread machine, except for the cornmeal which we will use later for the pan.
2 Set machine on dough / manual cycle.
3 When cycle is finished, remove the dough and place on lightly floured surface. Cover and let rise 10 minutes.
4 Divide dough into 2 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 10 x 4 inch rectangle. Tightly roll up each rectangle from the long edge ( a 10" long roll). Pinch the seams and short ends to seal each roll.
5 Grease a baking sheet and sprinkle with the cornmeal. Place loaves, seam side down on the baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
6 With a sharp knife, slash each roll diagonally on top 2-3 times. Beat egg with a little water and brush loaf tops with the egg wash.
7 Palce a shallow pan containing 3/4 cup water on bottom shelf of oven. Pre-heat overn to 450*.
8 When the oven is hot, bake Linda's French Bread about 20 minutes, until lightly golden.
9 Cool on wire rack.
