Popcorn Recipe

image of popcorn recipe.

Popcorn recipe? I remember the first time I was shown how to make popcorn. Since then we have enjoyed all kinds of popcorn, including the popcorn recipe below.

But first, you need to know how to make popcorn!

It's easier than you think. Remember, there is a first for everything .. including making popcorn.

You will need either an air popper to pop the popcorn, or a heavy bottomed large pan to pop it in. You may find a popcorn maker named "stir crazy" and it uses oil just like the pan method. Use the same measurements (2/3 cup popcorn and 2 Tablespoons of oil) for the stir crazy, too.

If you are using an air popper, measure out 2/3 cup of uncooked popcorn into the air popper and put the lid on.

Plug it it, and place your serving bowl under the spout. The machine will do all the work for you.

If you are using a large pan, place 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the bottom, and heat the oil over medium high heat until it begins to smoke a bit.
Add 2/3 cup of uncooked popcorn to your pan and stir with a wooden or heat-safe stirring spoon.

Stir the popcorn continually over the heat until all the popcorn is popped.

Now you are ready to top your popped popcorn with either traditional melted butter or try this flavored popcorn recipe which is the favorite in our household:

Flavored Popcorn Recipe

Popcorn with Flavored Peanut Butter and Honey

Try new flavors! Substitute grated cheddar cheese, or Italian herbs, or sprinkle on some cinnamon sugar!

4 Tb    unsalted (sweet) butter
4 Tb honey
4 Tb peanut butter
6 cups    already popped corn

1 Pop the corn in your popper (see instructions above) or use 2 pre-filled microwave bags and cook as directed on the microwave popcorn bags. Pour all the popcorn into a large serving bowl.
2 Measure out the peanut butter, honey and butter into a small microwavable bowl and microwave for 1 minute on high.

Or, you can melt this popcorn topping in a small saucepan over medium heat.

3 Pour the peanut butter topping evenly over the bowl, and toss the popcorn until it is well coated.
