Core and slice the cabbage into 1/4" thick strips. Chop the onion. Reserve all. |

In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium heat and add the onion, cooking until almost brown. Transfer to your slow cooker. |

Into the slow cooker, add the broth, vinegar, sugar, salt, thyme, and pepper. Now add the cabbage. Stir well and cover. Cook on low for 4 hours. |

Peel, core and chop the apple. |

After 4 hours, add the chopped apple and the raisins. Cook an additional hour. |
