Red Cabbage from your Slowcooker



Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

 Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage
 
 
2 Tbs    butter  
1   onion  
1/2 cup    beef broth  
1/4 cup    red wine vinegar  
1/4 cup    brown sugar  
1/2 tsp    salt  
1/2 tsp    thyme  
1   red cabbage  
1   granny smith apple  
1/3 cup    raisins  
 
1 Core and slice the cabbage into 1/4" thick strips. Chop the onion. Reserve all.
2 In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium heat and add the onion, cooking until almost brown. Transfer to your slow cooker.
3 Into the slow cooker, add the broth, vinegar, sugar, salt, thyme, and pepper. Now add the cabbage. Stir well and cover. Cook on low for 4 hours.
4 Peel, core and chop the apple.
5 After 4 hours, add the chopped apple and the raisins. Cook an additional hour.
6 Serve immediately.
