My good friend Gerry Stacy would make this Chewy Sugar Cookie Recipe every Holiday and let the neighborhood kids come in and decorate them with icing and sprinkles. | Mix this soft sugar cookie recipe up the day before you plan to bake, and they roll out nice and firm.

Use seasonal cookie cutters and decorate these Chewy Sugar Cookies with icing and sprinkles, or just sprinkles. Small candies are fun to use, and sometimes I just give them a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on the tops just before baking.
