Squaw Bread Recipe - free bread machine recipes

 Sandy's Secret Squaw Bread

This recipe takes just over 3 cups of flour, so you must have a good sized machine to use this recipe. Double the recipe and make by hand kneading for two good sized loaves. This is the best of the best, thanks, Sandy!

2 1/4 tsp    dry yeast
3 Tbs    honey
1/4 cup    water
1/4 cup    raisins
3 Tbs    brown sugar
7/8 cup    milk
3 Tbs    unsalted butter
1/4 tsp    salt
3/4 cup    rye flour
1 1/4 cups    bread flour
1 1/4 cups    whole wheat flour

1 In a blender or food processor mix all the liquids and the raisins. Puree until raisins are ground.
2 Place all ingredients into the bread machine, including the liquids.
3 Set your machine to whole wheat mode and begin.

Although this squaw bread recipe call for some salt, the 1/4 tsp is really negligible in the overall size and amount of servings in this free bread machine recipes.

The small amount of salt helps to form a more uniform loaf. It can be omitted without much consequences, but I find it rises better and makes a better shaped loaf if I do include the salt.
